Pippi Longstocking Lyrics

We were trying to remember the pippi lyrics today and we were completely off. Here are the English lyrics for pippi theme song.

Freckles on her nose
diddle diddle di
a girl came riding
into town one day
diddle diddle di
she was quite a sight
it's pippi longstocking
say ho ho he ha ha
it's pippi longstocking
there's no one like her
happy as can be
diddle diddle
pippi tells you stories
you just wait and see
tra la la la
she's quite a girl
she's got a house
an older funny house
a monkey and a horse
a suitcase full of gold and coins
you'll never ever ever find
a girl so strong
the grown ups here in town
tra la la la
pippi's world is fun
she makes kids happy
her make believe
the grown ups here in town
tra la la la
she is such an imp
tra la la la
you'll love her too.

Here's the real lyrics:
Freckles on her nose
Diddle diddle di
A girl came riding
Into town one day
It was quite a sight
Its Pippi Longstocking
Say ho ho da he ha ha
Its Pippi Longstocking
There's no one like her
Happy as can be
Diddle diddle
Pippi tells you stories
You just wait and see
Tra la la la la
She's quite a girl
She's got a house
An older funny house
A monkey and a horse
A suitcase full of gold and coins
And you will never ever find
Another girl so strong
And always gets arest and kind.
Pippi's world is fun
Diddle diddle di
She makes kids happy
Her make believe may stop
Diddle diddle di
The grown-ups here in town
Pippi's quite funny
Diddle diddle di
With her smartest army
She is such an imp
Tra la la la la
You'll love her too

I believe if you listen closely you'll find that the lyrics are actually as follows:

Freckles on her nose
Diddle Diddle Di
A girl came riding
Into town one day
Diddle Diddle
She was quite a sight

It’s Pippi Longstockings
Hey ho ho ha he ha ha
It’s Pippi Longstockings
There’s no one like her

Happy as can be
Diddle Diddle
Pippi tells you stories
You just wait and see
Tra la la la
She’s quite a girl

She’s got a house
An older funny house
A monkey and a horse
A suitcase full of golden coins
And you will never ever ever find
Another girl so strong
And always generous and kind

Pippi’s world is fun
Diddle Diddle di
She makes kids happy
Her make-believe may stun
Diddle de
The grownups here in town

Pippi’s quite unique
Diddle Diddle
With her smile disarming
She is such an imp
Tra la la la you’ll love her too

i do believe it starts off as:

What shall i do today
what shall i do today
what shall i do today
what shall i do?

i can start a new adventure
by jumping on my bed,

i can carry mr.nelson
with horse upon my head...

you get the jist?

I've watched a lot of Pippi Longstockings, in Dutch, German Swedish and English, and the English version is by far (and I mean by a mile or more), the lamest version around. It's so brave that we suspect is was 'amended' for the poor American children. No naughtiness, no mischievousness, nothing!

With brave I meant timid, boring
